Committing to Christ
23 APRIL 09
Print Version

"There are two paths that a person can choose in life. He may choose the path that is broad and whereon most of humanity finds their way. Or, he may choose the narrow path, where few men trod. The narrow path is considered socially unacceptable especially by today's very liberal standards. One path leads to destruction, the other path leads to eternal life. On which path are you?" This is the opening paragraph and theme of the current newsletter The Kingdom of God {Committing to Christ}, Volume 13, Issue 2, Spring 2009. Choosing the correct path is vital to your eternal security. The narrow path leads to eternal life, while the broad path, the one most travelled, leads to death. In the summer of 1975 both Mary and I chose to follow Christ. Part of our testimony is the subject of a previous newsletter, Born Again - What does it mean? No one can understand what it means to be born again until he or she fully commits their life to Christ.

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water [natural birth] and of the Spirit [born again], he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:1-8

Many people accept Christ and become professing Christians, but until they are born of the Spirit they can never taste the true joy that is available to the born again believer. It is an unbelievable experience. It is a life of service for the Kingdom. It is a life of putting others ahead of your own selfish desires.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Galatians 5:16-18

If you are walking in the Spirit then your joy may be full.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:19-25

Past newsletters additions to the web page

Two additional newsletters from the year 2000 have been added to the webpage, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Volume 4, Issue 4 and The End of the World, Volume 4, Issue 3.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse offers a special look into the meaning of the prophecy of the Four Horsemen of Revelation chapter 6 and end-time events.

The End of the World looks at clues to the time of Jesus return in Scripture. Additional articles in this issue include Variable Speed of Light that examines the significance of a variable speed of light to young earth theory. A final article Why I Still Read the King James Version compares key verses of the King James Version with the New International Version (NIV) and the New American Standard Bible (NASB).
