The Origin of Evil and the Spread of False Religions

Introduction to Lesson 4

Where did Cain get his wife?  It is shown that Cain’s line founded technology and cities.  Cain’s line produced a corrupt line.  Seth produced a godly line that led to righteous Noah.

Adam’s Children

After Cain murdered his brother, we are told that Adam and Eve had more children.  Prominent are two distinct lines, that of Cain and that of Seth.  Interestingly we find that Cain’s line was a very worldly line, founding cities and developing technology.  In contrast, Seth’s line seemed to produce more godly descendants, and seemed to be close to the land rather than cities and technology.  Cain’s line seems to have developed a close relationship with God.  It was Seth’s line from which Noah came, and from Noah and his three sons the earth was populated.  We are all descendents of Adam through one of Noah’s children, and ultimately we are all sons of Adam.

Population

A large population was on the earth before the Flood of Noah.  Statistical estimates show that a very large population can result in a very short time, even more so when the longevity of our early ancestors is factored in.  There was not the gene pool corruption that we have today, and climate conditions may have not been as harsh as we see today.  It is only after the Flood that we see a dramatic change in longevity as recorded in Scripture.

As each succeeding generation occurs there is a buildup of genetic errors that can be harmful to succeeding generations if they continue to breed within close family groups.  This is why that eventually marriage between close family members was later prohibited in most cultures.

Wickedness Builds Like a Crescendo

In this lesson we will look at the lines of Cain and Seth and follow them as their lines approach the time of the Flood of Noah.  We will see wickedness increase much like today, as well as the righteousness of a few.  We will also see prophecies that foretell both the Rapture and the coming deluge of the Flood.  God will have finally had enough of the prevailing wickedness and will bring on the worldwide Flood – and finally great tribulation.

Gen 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years….

5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
