The Origin of Evil and the Spread of False Religions

Introduction to Lesson 6

Noah had three sons by whom the earth was populated.  We will discuss who they are, who they became, and where they settled throughout the world as they fled Babel.

Lineages of the Sons of Noah

In our study of The Spread of False Religion it is important to identify the lineages of the sons of Noah in order to identify where each group settled with their corrupt religious practices after leaving Babel.  The people represented by these three sons participated in the New Testament events and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  Each of these three sons had a particular service to mankind that will be shown in this lesson.  We will also discuss man’s three fundamental responsibilities as given by God in the first few chapters of Genesis.  Before we discuss the various nations descended from these three sons of Noah, we will first look at the three sons and their responsibilities in the New Testament.

Nimrod

We will look at the rebellion of Nimrod (a type of the Antichrist) at Babel.  Idolatry and false religion began with him after the Flood.[1]  Nimrod instituted Imperial Government and a new idolatrous worship at Babel - he probably demanded worship as God.[2]

The Table of Nations

Genesis chapter 10 is known as the Table of Nations.  The Table of Nations is important to the study of the rest of the history of the Jewish people in the Old Testament – you will see these families, and the nations they represent, mentioned again and again.  It is from these three sons of Noah that all men living today are descended, and from which the various nations are derived.

GEN 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

The Sons of Noah – What Nations They Represent

Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  Important to our study of the spread of false religion is who they became and where in the world they went when they left Babel.  We will demonstrate that this information is also important when we study the rest of Scripture and particularly prophecy.
